SMOOTH JIU JITSU ACADEMY
Adult Grading Requirements – Blue, Purple & Brown Belts
Important Grading Principles
At Smooth Jiu Jitsu Academy, students may demonstrate any technique for each category as long as it is razor sharp, effective, and controlled. Jiu Jitsu is not a game of collecting techniques — it is the development of fighting ability built on fundamentals, pressure, and timing.
Physical conditioning is essential. A well-rounded martial artist must demonstrate: • Strength
• Cardiovascular fitness
• Mobility & flexibility
You must be healthy to be graded.
If you are technical but puff out after one minute, you are not meeting the standard required for advancement.
